My beautiful niece Angela Pale graduated yesterday with a Bachelor of Laws and Bachelor of Arts (Humanities) from the University of Western Sydney, Australia. She will become the first lawyer in our Pale family which is a significant milestone for all our relatives in Tonga, New Zealand, Australia and the United States of America. As a family, we are extremely proud of her achievements to date.

Angela attributed and dedicated her academic success to her late Mother Arbeen Lata Pale and her Father Stanley Tukia Tuitu’u Pale for the abundant support that they have provided over the years.

In acknowledgement of this significant moment within my family, I am proud to share a couple of poems written by Angela. The first poem is a tribute that she wrote for her late Mother in 2009. The second poem was written by her in celebration of her Father’s birthday in 2011.

To My Beautiful Mother by Angela Pale (2009)

a year goes by,
with almost nothing to say.
except, with every year that goes by,
nothing will ever be the same.

overwhelmed with happiness,
walking down memory lane.
a beautiful face fixated,
in hundreds of frames.

the pain is true,
the loss is torment,
yet your grace lives on,
in every joyous moment.

life is too short,
to live depressed and unknown.
something you taught me,
and allows me to keep growing.

so live this life abundantly,
despite what you may suffer.
and read this poem influenced,
by a beautiful brave mother.

Celebrating My Father by Angela Pale (2011)

Proud to be your daughter;

proud to be your blood.

You taught me how to stay humble;

you taught me only to love.

Not many people understand,

how much you really have done.

To provide us with everything,

a child could ever want.

Your hands convey the story,

of a man that has lived life.

Who is selfless and caring,

even throughout strife.

Your heart so full of gold,

I can’t thank God enough.

I only cry tears of joy,

of your everlasting love.

  2. Congratulations to Angie and that’s a wonderful accomplishment! My daughter is in her third year, working towards a BA in Communication. The poems are lovely, too…

  3. Great news, one lawyer is a blessing, two an argument 🙂

In a serious note, she has keys to the doors of how to help people in the modern world.
